How often can I change my Will in Cressing?

Andrew Douglas Wills and Legal Services recommend that if you are over the age of 18 years old you
should make a valid Will. Many people choose to make a Will once they have reached a certain life
event such as having children, buying a house, or getting married. In the majority of cases, a Will can
be accurate for many years. However, it is normally the case that you will want to change your Will
at some point before your death. It is important to review your Will at regular intervals, and there
are many reasons why you may wish to change your Will:

Death of a beneficiary:
It may be that you have bequeathed an item to somebody who has now died and you wish to
bequeath the item to another person. If you do not change your Will then the item will usually
revert back to be included within the rest of your Estate.

Broken or lost items:
It may be that a particular item has been lost or broken and you wish to remove it from your Will. If
you do not remove the item from your Will before you die, then your Executor may well try to locate
the item in order to pass it to the named beneficiary. Therefore you may wish to amend your Will to
avoid causing confusion or wasted time.

Changing beneficiaries:
Another reason that you may wish to amend your Will is if you decide that you would like to add or
remove a beneficiary from your Will. Perhaps you have decided to remove a beneficiary because you
no longer wish them to benefit from your Will. If you are excluding a family member from your Will
then you may wish to include a letter of explanation within your Will.

It is important that your Will accurately reflects your wishes. If you do not legally change your Will
and it contains inaccurate or unwanted clauses, your Executor will be legally bound to follow your
Will as it stands at the time of your death. For this reason, subject to financial cost, there is no limit
to how many times you can change your Will. With any legally binding decision, it is important that
you carefully consider professional advice before formally applying to change your Will. Therefore if
you are considering changing your Will, contact Andrew Douglas Wills and Legal Services today for a
