Pre-Paid Funeral Plan. It may seem like a good idea, but how can you get the greatest benefits from the use of a Pre-Paid Funeral Plan? Laura Richardson provides the answer during the course of her latest article . . .
With rising costs of funerals across the UK, it is no surprise that many people in Essex are turning to Pre-Paid Funeral Plans in order to ensure that they receive the funeral that they would wish for. We at Andrew Douglas Wills and Legal Services are proud to offer a Pre-Paid Funeral Plan service via our trusted expert partners. Here are our top tips to make the most of your Pre-Paid Funeral Plan:
- Make sure your loved ones are aware of your funeral plan! You should include details of your funeral plan alongside your Will and other such documents, in a safe, secure place that your loved ones can access after your death.
- Make sure you understand what is and isn’t included within your pre-paid funeral. For example, you cannot prepay for a burial plot via a Pre-Paid Funeral Plan. The cost of a burial plot can vary widely depending upon location so it is important to understand exactly what additional costs could be required based on the choices you make for your funeral.
- Keep a detailed record of everything that you have included within your pre-paid funeral including receipts of payments. By ensuring that you have accurate records of the payments you have made and what these payments cover, this will ensure that your loved ones will know exactly what to expect to be charged for should there be any additional services required for your funeral.
- Inform your funeral plan provider if you move house. Usually, when you take out your Pre-Paid Funeral Plan you will decide on which funeral director will be used. However, if you move home, your choice of a funeral director may need to be changed.
- Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is important to note that some elements of your Pre-Paid Funeral Plan may not be possible should you die whilst certain restrictions are in place. You should ensure that you discuss this fully with your chosen Pre-Paid Funeral Provider in order to determine exactly how the Covid-19 pandemic could affect your funeral choices.
