Should I make an online Will?

It is not surprising to know to that, whether in Essex or across the UK, it is possible to write a Will entirely
online. Many websites offer, what they call, a “will writing service”, often advertising how quickly they can
prepare a Will. However most of these websites rely on the client to accurately complete an online form
and answer a series of yes/no questions regarding their wishes for a Will. Whilst this may appear
convenient and simple, there are some points to consider before completing an online will.
The majority of online wills are based on a one size fits all template. Therefore if you wish to have anything
other than a very simple Will, this service is not for you. For example if you have children under the age of
18, you will need to have a Trust set up within your will in order that any inheritance is safely held for them
by a Trustee appointed by you. The inclusion of this basic type of Trust is not usually covered in a standard
online will writing service.

There may be questions that you are required to answer online of which you are unsure of the answer.
Without consulting a professional you may remain unsure and in the worst case scenario, by answering
incorrectly you may end up with a will that is vastly different to your intentions.
As online will writing services rely on the client filling in correct information, there is usually no way in which
to have your Will amended once you have submitted the online form. Simple errors may even mean that
your Will could be deemed invalid! By using a qualified professional to write your Will for you, you will be
given an opportunity to review a draft of your Will and discuss any alterations you may wish to make, as
well as correcting any errors. These alterations are usually done at no extra cost to you.

At Andrew Douglas Wills and Legal Services we believe that a face to face will writing service is the most
reliable way to ensure that you receive the Will you require. The process is simple; at a consultation with
one of our team you will answer questions and provide information regarding your estate and finances, and
you will also be able to detail your wishes for any specific bequests. Shortly after this consultation you will
receive a draft copy of your Will for approval. You are welcome to take your time to review this in order to
make sure that it is accurate. One of our team will be happy to discuss any changes you may wish to make,
and make any alterations until you are sure that you are entirely satisfied with your Will. On approval of
your draft Will you will be issued with your formal Will for signing and witnessing.

As specialists in this area of law, Andrew Douglas wills and legal services can also ensure that all of your
queries will be answered comprehensively, giving you the peace of mind that your Will covers all of your
requirements in a manner which is valid in accordance with UK law. Therefore contact Andrew Douglas
Wills and Legal Services today to arrange your free initial consultation for your Will.
