So this is blogging in Braintree, after much procrastinating on my part and a considerable amount of cajoling from friends, family and acquaintances I have finally tentatively entered the world of blogging.

My name is Andrew Douglas and I am the owner of Andrew Douglas Wills and Legal Services that has been trading out of the Braintree area of Essex since 2010 and so this is blogging in Braintree for my business.

Hopefully you will already know something about the business that Andrew Douglas Wills and Legal Services carries out from the information provided on other sections of my website as well as elsewhere on the Internet, but what about me? What about Andrew Douglas himself?

Well I have always lived in Essex since I was born but I currently live with my wonderful girlfriend, Sarah in Braintree where I look to play an active role in the community.

I first went to school at Newlands Spring County Primary before then going to Chelmer Valley High School (where I also went to college!). After completing my college studies I then went on to study law at Anglia Ruskin (formerly Polytechnic) University where I completed my degree and two postgraduate qualifications (including the Legal Practitioners Course). Since then I have taken a number of further qualifications relating to Will Writing and Estate Planning including those provided for by the European Association of Will Writers in and around my work with a view to continuing to update my knowledge and further my career.

Since completing my studies at university I have played an active role on the freelance lecture circuit at both universities and colleges along with producing numerous peer-reviewed articles to aid students in their academic advancement and help to potentially further their career aspirations. Additionally, I have worked in a legal advisory role for a number of business both in Essex and London before looking to finally set up Andrew Douglas Wills and Legal Services with a view to then assisting individuals, couples, familiers, sole traders, partnerships, companies and other organisations.

At its most basic, the answer is simple: I like it!

Seriously though, I love the way someone can present their situation to me as an individual, couple, family, sole trader, partnership. company or other form of organisation to then be assessed in line with a body of law that has been developing in this country over many years (and is continuing to develop even as I write this!) with a clear answer. On this basis, I like the fact that, through the knowledge I have accrued over the years, I can help those that come to me for advice to be able to improve their situation and resolve their problems through the provision of a service that is tailored to their specific needs at a price that is both economical and cost-effiicient.

For me everyone who is at least 18 years of age who has tangible assets like a house or some other form of property and/or children should have a Will in place to safeguard their interests along with their family and/or spouse. The reason for this is because of the fact that otherwise the law as it currently stands will take effect and your wishes as an individual will be effectively set to one side or even bypassed because they have not been drafted in an official legal document. Allied to this there is also a need to consider the use of trust instruments to further protect your families future against things like long term residential care costs and these are things that I can help you.
